Club Kit Poll and 3 important takeaways from KL Bakat

Your vote will be taken into consideration 🤪 Stay tuned, and we may have polling for the design of these items too!

3 important takeaways from this KL Bakat

  1. Consistency is the key to success. Be consistent in your training, your time will come. You cannot expect to have good performance with on and off training. Yes, you may get away some time with good timing without training, but how long will this "good timing" sustain? Yes, there is natural talent who doesn't do regular training but still run great timing, but remember this "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard."

  2. Communication improves teamwork. What we are lacking off in our team is that we don't communicate enough. Everyone get so comfortable in their own circle, no one, literally no one tried to make an effort to speak to a new member or other people in the team, and no one even ask another teammate for baton passing feedback. Athletics is an individual sports, but you can't succeed alone. You will need supports from your teammates, guidance from your coaches, motivation from the team. Can you run a relay alone? No. Would you try to run faster even when you couldn't lift your legs, just because your team are cheering so hard for you? Yes! It makes a different! You all just need to try and start communicating, no matter how silly you feel by just asking "how do you feel today, buddy?"!

  3. Be a responsible and independent athlete. Manage your time wisely and plan ahead before your race. Your parents aren't the one running, they shouldn't be the one to remind you what to bring to the call room. Your coaches aren't there to babysit you, they shouldn't be the one that run up and down to delivery water bottle for you. Your seniors aren't there to guide your warm up from A-Z, they are there to compete too. Put effort to learn to warm up if you still cannot remember. Put effort writing a list of stuffs that you will need on the race day.

What did they say about this experience?

My experience participating in the KL Bakat competition was an unforgettable one, it was my first competition since the pandemic. I felt nervous and excited, first time using starting blocks, the loud gunshot, and realizing how good the other athletes were. Overall it was amazing, it felt great to race with the other trained athletes in my heat, somehow I feel some kind of unusual satisfaction after the race, also boosted my motivation to train harder next time. And the mixed relay was fun too, my first time running in an actual relay race besides school sports day. I’m grateful for the organizers and coaches for giving me the opportunity to compete in this event, hope to join more competitions like this in the future.
